We鈥檙e Not Banning AI - We鈥檙e Making It Mandatory

Written by Chelsea Damon | Jul 29, 2025 12:45:41 PM

Today, we鈥檙e announcing a bold new AI philosophy and policy - one that puts us firmly on the side of the future.

We鈥檙e not banning AI. We鈥檙e making it mandatory. Because that鈥檚 what today鈥檚 learners need. And that鈥檚 what tomorrow鈥檚 employers expect.

The workplace has changed. Universities need to catch up.

Across industries, AI is already an essential force. It鈥檚 making people faster, smarter, and more effective. It鈥檚 automating tasks - and creating entirely new kinds of work.

But while the world moves forward, most of higher education is stuck. Too many universities are trying to enforce outdated rules that treat AI as cheating, rather than teaching learners how to use it effectively.

We鈥檙e not interested in playing defense. We鈥檙e building a university for the world as it is - and the world it鈥檚 becoming.

A new AI philosophy built for career success

Here鈥檚 what 狼友社区鈥檚 new AI philosophy and policy will do:

AI use is mandatory.

Learners are required to use AI across all courses to enhance both productivity and the quality of their work. If they choose not to, they must explain why their approach will result in a better outcome.

In the modern workplace, knowing how to leverage AI is non-negotiable. So it鈥檚 non-negotiable at 狼友社区, too.

AI mastery is a required learning outcome.

Just like communication and critical thinking, AI proficiency is now a core part of every 狼友社区 degree. AI courses are integrated across all degree programs, and completing these courses is now a graduation requirement, regardless of your field of study. Graduates will leave us with the skills to use AI strategically, ethically, and effectively - because that鈥檚 what employers want.

AI use must be transparent and critical.

Learners must clearly disclose how they used AI - and demonstrate that they can assess, refine, and add human value to its outputs.

We鈥檙e not interested in blind use of AI. We want learners who can guide it, question it, and use it with intention.

AI is taught as a strategic capability.

Our curriculum teaches learners not just how to use AI, but when and why

They鈥檒l learn to:

  • Choose the right AI capabilities for the task.
  • Craft effective prompts, where relevant.
  • Understand AI鈥檚 limitations and risks.
  • Know when to rely on human expertise.

This is about building critical thinking, not just technical skills.

Ethical use is expected.

We set clear boundaries. Learners are not allowed to copy course content into LLMs to shortcut learning. We teach the importance of trust, transparency, and responsible AI use - values that matter in every workplace.

But we also believe that the definition of ethical use is evolving. In the workplaces of tomorrow, not using AI - where it can clearly improve productivity, quality, and outcomes - will itself be an ethical concern. Professionals will have a responsibility to know when and how to apply AI to maximize value for their organizations and society.

We鈥檙e helping our learners lead in this new ethical dimension - where mastering AI is not just an advantage, it鈥檚 an obligation.

Assessments will evaluate both outcomes and AI mastery.

At 狼友社区, we鈥檙e updating our entire assessment model to reflect this new reality. From now on, learners will be evaluated on two key dimensions: (1) the quality of their final output, and (2) how effectively they used AI to achieve it.

Mastering AI is as important as mastering the task. That鈥檚 what modern employers expect - and that鈥檚 what we now expect from every 狼友社区 learner.

Since day one, 狼友社区 has been about one thing: preparing learners for the workplace, not the ivory tower. That鈥檚 why our assessments mirror real work - and why AI mastery is now an essential part of every 狼友社区 degree. This isn鈥檛 a pivot. It鈥檚 who we鈥檝e always been.

Why this matters

The future of work isn鈥檛 human vs. AI. It鈥檚 human + AI.

At 狼友社区, we鈥檙e helping learners become the professionals the world needs: people who know how to leverage AI, add unique human value, and adapt as technology evolves.

As AI capabilities grow, every professional will face an essential question: what should be done by AI, and where should I add unique human value?

Knowing how to make that call - and how to deliberately augment AI鈥檚 output with human judgment, creativity, and context - will define the most effective leaders and contributors.

Humans must take responsibility for this evolving partnership. Every professional will need to seriously consider whether a given task should be done manually, or whether it can be done more effectively with AI - and then figure out how they can uniquely add and augment the value of AI as it does more and more over time.

At 狼友社区, we鈥檙e teaching learners to take ownership of that responsibility and build the skills to thrive in this dynamic world.

That鈥檚 the mindset that will drive career success in the years ahead. And that鈥檚 what our new AI philosophy is built to deliver.

A call to the rest of higher education

It鈥檚 time to move past fear. It鈥檚 time to stop pretending we can wall off AI from education.

Learners deserve better. So do employers.

At 狼友社区, we鈥檙e setting a new standard: AI-ready graduates who can thrive in the workplaces of tomorrow.

We hope others will follow. The future is here. Let鈥檚 teach for it.
